Happy " " Day

So this morning I woke up with a slightly heavy head. I knew today would be trying to set aside my procrastinating tendencies as I had to finish off writing a board paper, write another board paper and there was the small matter of completing my doctoral thesis progression review for submission tomorrow. You can understand why a world class procrastinator such as myself had a concern. Then on the drive to work my phone started pinging with my morning updates and I had to metaphorically stop and smile…

Why I hear you ask? Well did you know that today was National Chocolate Chip Day? A whole day dedicated to the humble chocolate chip. Well, not dedicated to just the deliciously versatile nugget . Today is also the day to celebrate International Family Day, Straw Hat Day, Nylon Stockings Day and Bring Someone Flowers Day (sorry to my wife for then forgetting on the way home!). Also far more thought provokingly it is International Conscientious Objectors Day, Tuberous Sclerosis Global Awareness Day and Vascular Birthmarks Awareness Day.

So it got me thinking…Today is the 15th May 2023… for most just an ordinary day, but for so many, a day to pause and think or to give thanks for something important in their lives. For me it was a normal busy day of pulling together reports, meeting my team and getting the job done… but perhaps…perhaps stopping and thinking what the day is important for, and who it is important for, may just enrich our lives…

Oh and lest not forget it is also the tennis legend Andy Murray’s birthday… Happy Birthday Andy. Right, I am off for a chocolate chip cookie to celebrate and then head back to the books!
