From blog to podcast

The last couple of weeks have been a flurry of activity. Earlier in February I was invited to record a ‘Finger on the Pulse’ podcast with the National Health Executive magazine. While the main thrust of the podcast was to discuss the position and impact of backlog maintenance within the NHS, the conversation was much wider, picking up subjects such was the on-going nursing strikes and funding of the NHS. The podcast should air sometime in March.

Last week I had the pleasure of talking at a National Health Executive conference on backlog within the NHS. The conference tackled backlog in its wider sense, but I was asked to specifically discuss estates maintenance backlog, and its impact. I have included a link to the recording below.

In addition to the extra-curricular activities above, the last couple of weeks has been focusing on analysing the data provided by NHS England. The initial set of data contains those incidents of which ‘infrastructure’ was the primary cause. This review will no doubt take up a number of the weeks to come.
